We met on the first day of orientation for medical school.  Mike was having a few people over for a BBQ and Liza was randomly invited.  It turned out we both went to Emory, were Neuroscience majors and later found out we even had classes together.  So yada yada yada, now we're engaged!

M: Even though we had classes together, we did not know each other since one of us never went to class.

L:  Anyways!  Actually, we started hanging out when Mike was leading study groups in anatomy lab.   Of course, I thought he was a gunner!

M:  I guess it worked! Soon after, we formed our own study group of two. 

L:  Haha, let's go on to the engagement. 

M:  It is hard to hide anything from Liza.  Luckily, we were  away on rotations for 3 months.  I knew that if I planned any special dates, she would be suspicious. So when Liza planned a spring break trip to LA to visit friends, that was the perfect opportunity to surprise her.  We decided that I would go to Colorado earlier in the week and she would fly in from LA to celebrate Passover with my family.  That was just the cover up.  I actually flew out to LA 12 hours after she did.  I got some strange looks from the people around me on the plane when I said 'we just landed in Denver'. 

L:  I should have realized when I asked about the weather in Colorado and he told me he had not been outside.  So, Shawn tells me about a dinner party a friend of hers is having at the Getty Museum that night.  She's a bit fuzzy about the details.  That night we get to the restaurant in the museum and there's a reservation under Shawn's name for 6 people.  I thought this was strange but just figured the guy was trying to get Shawn.  Reservations were for 8pm.  We end up waiting...and waiting...

M:  I was stuck in LA traffic!

L:  Shawn tries to entertain me by going through all the pictures in my camera, my stomach is growling, and I'm getting annoyed with waiting.  Then at 8:45 Mike strolls in!!  At that moment, everything stood still and I thought I was imagining him. 

M: She looked like she saw a ghost.

L:  I was very shocked, the only words that could come out of my mouth was 'Shut up!'  Mike proposed (on one knee) and I managed to say yes.  The ring was perfection! And that's how it went down!

M:  Afterwards, friends  joined us to celebrate.  

L:  It was an unforgettable night!!
